Race Cars!

Building a race car is a great project that incorporates math and science in the classroom!  It allows students to work together to devise a plan to build the fastest race car they can.  It is motivating and ispiring for students to learn about something hands on.

Here is my Race Car!

Todays Lesson

Today we learned about chemical reactions and how to isolate variables to test and observe reactions.  The idea of doing hands on experimentation gets students involved and intrigued throughout the lesson.  Also it encourages students to ask questions and try to solve their questions by testing their idea.  All students can benefit from a hands on experiment like this!

Arboretum Trip and the Silver Pheasant

The trip to the Arboretum was really exciting and fun.  It was nice to get out of the classroom for some hands on learning.  This trip would be great for elementary students because they get real life experiences in the particular habits.  It always was great to use technology and creativity with the digital cameras because you were given a choice of what to take pictures of and you go to work together as a group to decide what you wanted to study.

The project about the rainforest and creating your own animal allows students to identify with one animal and create it however you want.  Doing the art project felt relaxing, but stimulating at the same time.  It allowed freedom to draw and explore different pictures of the animal and chose where you wanted your animal to be.  It will be a beautiful mural at the end with everyone's work coming together to create the idea of a rain forest.
